A few days ago, at the State Fair in Louisville, an exhibition known as the “Baby Incubator Show” was had and three of the babies, aged four, five and eight weeks, respectively, were permitted to die, due to inanition or lack of food and attention. After three days dura tion, the show was stopped by the authorities and H. K. Snyder and wife, who had charge of the performance, were placed under arrest. In the trial of these parties last week, it developed that two other babies had died while the same show was at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and under the headlines “Heavy fines assessed against baby incubator operators,” we are told by the daily press that Snyder, (who called himself Dr. Snyder, but in fact was not a physician at all), was fined $5.00 and costs in nine cases and his wife $1.00 and costs in a like number of charges. Th te authorities really want to break up this barbarous practice, iste. of possessing fines in such cases, why not try a term in the penitentary? It is hard to persuade the average layman to look so lightly upon human life.
