Death of Frank McGrath. LEAVENWORTH, Kan., Sept. 28. Frank McGrath, parole ‘officer of the Kansas penitentiary, died at the Elnora hotel ‘in Lansing yesterday af ternoon. He was injured by falling when bringing am prisoner to the United States penitentiary last win ter and never “fully recovered his health. Mr. McGrath was a veteran of the Civil war and was active in Kansas politics for ‘the last twenty five years. He was one “of the or ganizers of the’ Farmers’ alliance and was chairman of the Populist state committee in one campaign. Mr. McGrath was a deputy, United States; marshal, for three years, which posi tion “he resigned in June to become parole officer here, Frank McGrath, Jr., has been acting parole officer, for several “weeks. Mr. McGrath managed” the cam paign that’ removed United States Senator John J. ‘Ingalls from public life.About fifteen’ years ago he himself had an ambition to go to the Senate. Afterward he returned to the Republican party. .
