Suicided in Jail.Clarence H. Adams, an alleged newspaper man, committed eulcide Wednesday night in the city jail by hanging himself with a bath towel made into a rope and fastened to the iron bare of his cage. Adams has been living in this city for several weeka and was oat of work, and, according to hie own story, had been out of empleyaient for a considerable period. He had been drinking heavily for several weeke and this led to abuse of his wife A week ago he was arrested for beating his wife, and lodged In jail. At that time he was fined 8100. He immediately launched a tirade of abuse againBt his wife, and the marshal proceeded to call him down to tbs queen’s taste The woman seems to be a very respectable lady and has been making the living during the summer, being employed at the eteam laundry. It is thought that when Adams had time to reflect on the peculiar colored cur he had been he decided to end his miserable life. The suicide occurred somewhere between the hours of 10:30 last evening and 7 o’clock this morning. He leaves, besides a wife, a five-year-old boy.—Ouray Herald.Some six weeks ago Adame wae in Grand Junction and during a conversation with the writer said he intended to commit suicide. He was intoxicated at the time and little Was thought of the matter then, but from the above he evidently had planned to do the deeps™*0 deed which ended his life in the jail at Ouray. Adams was a good printer and a splendid newspaper man, but whiskey caused his downfall and today he is bur-1 ied in a pauper’s grave.
