EMIL (MICKEY) WOWKPeacefully, on September 24, 1998,Mickey Wowk passed away at the Holy Family Nursing Home with his beloved wife Elsie at his side.Mickey was born in Winnipeg, MB on June 2, 1914. He worked at Anthes Foundry and then at the Canadian National Railway. He retired from CN R. in 1979 Mickey wasa member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #141 and the Senior Achievers Group. He along with his beloved wife Elsie volunteered delivering meals on wheels to the elderly.Mickey loved to watch sports on television and often took his dog Tabby for a walk and would stop to watch a baseball game at his local community club C.U. A C.Besides his loving wife Elsie, he leaves to cherish his memory sister-in-law Jean Herny; nephews, Ray and Jack Herny; grandnephews,Trevor and Ryan Herny; niece Mary Anne Kos-tiuk and nephew Bill Kostiuk.Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, September 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, O.S.B.M. officiating. Reception to follow in the Cropo Rose Room.Flowers gratefully declined.
