City merchants will stage a special promotion in December to kick off the Christmas shop ping season. Harold Smith, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce promo tion committee, said the event would be called “Christmas in Athens.” IT WILL BEGIN on Thursday, November 29, same day of Ath ens’ annual Christmas parade, and continue for three days. Smith said the committee had recommended that participat ing merchants offer holiday art icles at special prices on the three days. Members of the committee are Mrs. Bill Totten, C. H. Sauther, Earl King, Ralph Brett and Don ald Johnson.
