THE SURVIVING MEMBERS OF CO. *H.’ OF THE 17th, IND. ENTERTAINED.An Enjoyable Occanton Throughout.The Third Annual Reunion of Co. H., 17th, Ind. Regiment, met at the residence of Jaw. H. Clark in this place on Friday of last week, and spent a very pleasant day. The members of the company with their families comuied arriving from different ways during the morning and when the roll was called there were guests present from Evansville, Princeton, Patoka, Hkzelton, St. Louis and this vicinity who spent the time alloted them in a pleasant conversation when this was interrupted by I the announcement of a sumptuous repast that was served at 12 o'clock in which 75 visitors and a number of home people took an active part, and to say that this was enjoyed by everyone, is only expressing it in a very mild way. All were served in due time after which the evenings exercise was commenced.The orginization convened and elected J. J. Hartin, President; Robert Me Clure, Secretary; and li. Strassweg, Treasurer. Other business connected ^ with perpetuating the orginazation was transacted and then the following program took place.Selections by Silver Band after which Rev. Murray delivered an interesting and appropriate address giving a brief history of the Company, Regiment, and and the important service rendered by i each one. A song was rendered bv the choir and Miss Katie Hartin, who is by 1 no means an amateur elocutionist, gave a selection in the best of style. John Holton, one of the members of the company, rendered in good style, a cemi-eal selection entitled, the “Dutch Volunteer, ” which was enjoyed' by everyone. Miss Hartin gave a piece entitled “Chicnmauga” the seige being described by the lines it contained. Rev. Clippinger, who was present there, delivered a short but impressive address and honored the vetrans for the many trials they suffered to save the flag of this nation.All during the exercises songs by the choir and selections by the barid were rendered in good style which added much to the program. The zeroises closed by l)r. McClure in a short and appropriate speech, pYesenting so Mrs. Clark a bottle of wine which is to be retained by each successive hostess as long as the organization is maintained. Light refreshments were served, and after a general handshake, a reluctant departure was taken with the hope of meeting again at the next reunion which will be held at Evansville.Mr. and Mrs. Clark acquitted themselves in the best of stvle as host andwhostess and none but the most pleasant memories can be had of the third annual meeting.
