TO THE RESIDENTS OP KT. VERNON.CCOMMUNIOATED.)As is known to some of you, if not all, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church has organized a society in this village, a lot secured, foundation built and the corner-stone was laid on the 4th inst, The property is situated on Sixth avenue near North street, and is now valued as it stands al about $1,500. Two thousand dollars more is needed to complete it. We believe the church is needed and we will personally give it all the pecuniary aid we can afford, and it certainly is entitled to and will receive our moral support. We are not unmindful of the fact that our friends in this village have done and are doing a great and good work in building the Methodist Episcopal Church and now the Baptist Church, yet ife believe it is only necee-•ary to call thlt;j attention p£ the big-beart-the amount jBeoesaary to pay for the edifice without resorting to the questionable expedient of raising any part of it by mortgage. We feel very sure that there are two thousand people who could give each for the purpose and some will give moroa’a their ability will permit prompted by Him who says “ the poor you. have always with you.”Mr. Yale of Fourth avenue near First street, has kindly consented to act as Treasurer of this fund and all donations can be paid t9 him or Mr. Tolbert, the pastor, who will pay it over to the treasurer and publicly acknowledged. We cheerfully endorse the enterprise and feel hopeful that the necessary amount will be raised immediately, that the edifice may be enclosed before| the winter is upon us.September, 1887.I most heartily endorse this effort to provide our African Methodist friends with a ’.suitable church building, ChAs.
