Co. G, 12th Battalion, I. N. G., will give a grand party on Friday evening. Ken, of Joliet, and Tooker, of Plainfield, furnish the music. A squad of the boys are drilling the bayonet exercise to give an exhibition drill for the occasion. On Friday night last a valuable horse was stolen from the field of Mr. Raber, east of Plainfield. The thief was traced to within several miles of Chicago and, there the pursuing party lost track of him. Judging by the rush at the cider mills of the village, the apple crop is immense this season. H R. Fraser and family left Wednes day for Leadville, Col., where Mr. Fraser goes in business. Harvey Evens, Sept. of the M. E. Sab bath School, tendered his resignation on Sunday last, which was accepted. His successor will be elected next Sabbath. Col. Dishman has removed his ten sorial establishment to the rooms over Walt’s harness shop. [ A. Clippinger, our enterprising drug gist, intends shortly to occupy the build ing now occupied by Hatch Son. G. Scofield, who was fined $38 a costs for disturbing the peace a few days ago, concluded he would go to “In geany” to avoid payment. He got as far as Joliet, where Officer ‘Tooker captured him and lodged him in the “castle.” ’ Jack Crouch has broken ground for the erection of a dwelling on Main street near river. The picnic of the M. E Sabbath school on Saturday was rather slimly attended, the lateness of the time and the plowing match at Wheatland combined to keep away the crowd. A. Robinson, N. Pratt Co. were out fishing the other day and caught a fine string of black bass. Someone.
