— . -The Electric Plant. One of the most satisfactory enterprises in Pella is the electric light plant owned by the Messrs. Buwalda Bros. Although in operation only a little over two years it has proven to be a great benefit to the city and many houses which to do without would not for a moment be considered. The enterprise is a private one, and the growth of business has been steadily growing until now they have 850 lamps of 16 candle power in operation. The gentlemen put in the plant two years ago last September, with a 80 horse power engine which was all together too light, and it was substituted by a 116 horse power later on, which they find fully sufficiant for the capacity of the Dynamo, which will furnish a current for 1150 lamps, of 16 candle power each. They expect to put in a number of new lights and think by Jan. 1st the circuit will burn 600 lamps. The system is Thomson Houston patent which is pronounced the best mcondescent li«dit inOthe world and the splendid light given by the lamps in Pella prove the quality and brilliancy of lamp. It is certainly a very gratifying pleasure to the proprietors of this enterprise and we trust our people will give it a most hearty support.
