Scott WITTEN MANAGING EDITOR LUMBERTON — A man was arrested Monday on drug charges after a raid at his West Lumberton home. Paul Hunt, 31, of 2915 Olsen Drive, was charged with felony possession of marijuana after police say they found 4 ounces of marijuana on Friday during a raid, accord ing to police Detective Burnis Wilkins. Police seized the drugs, a digital scale and plastic bags, Wilkins said. Hunt was not at home at the time of the raid, but was picked up at is residence on Monday. He also is charged with posses sion with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintain ing a drug dwelling and assession of drug para phernalia. He was jailed under a $10,000 bail. During a separate raid a few blocks away, police seized 15 grams of crack cocaine and 11 marijuana rants at an apartment in the udor Court casing devel opment, Wilkins said. Police say they found an assault rifle and a 9mm d gun, which are prohib ited in the development. Wilkins said police also seized “a large amount” of Percocet pills and $600 in cash. Jenny Eva Byrd, 29, of 720 St. John Circle, was charged on Friday with possession of the drugs. There is a warrant for her 25-year-old husband, Michael Anthony Byrd Jr., who was not at home. “He called while we were there and said he would turn himself in, but it never happened,” Wilkins said. “We are offering a small reward for anyone who has information that may MICHAEL BYRD lead to his arrest.’ He said anyone with information can call 671- 3845 or e-mail him at drugsinlumberton@bell south. net. Wilkins said the county Department of Social Services has been contacted about the couple’s two small children who were in the home. “With the kids, weapons and drugs all there, we thought it best to refer it to them,” he said. Jenny Byrd was charged with trafficking opium, pos session of cocaine, posses sion with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a drug dwelling, manufac turing marijuana, conspira cy to traffick opium, con spiracy to sell and deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
