Cold, rainy weather didn’t stop Gardner’s Trailblazers as they shutout Piper last night in non league football action, 24-0. Gardner returned the opening kickoff 24 yards, and then used 11 plays to cover 45 yards for their first TD. From that moment, the rout was on. At halftime, the Blazers had built up a 6-0 margin, and then added 12 points in the third and six more in the fourth to wrap it up. With Paul Grahovac leading the way, Gardner’s powerful offense roared into high gear against the hapless Piper crew. Gardner racked up 340 yards in total offense while the stingy *Blazer defense allowed Piper only 87 yards all night. Grahovac scored Gardner’s first TD—from the one. The halfback also turned in an outstanding job on defense, coaches said. The conversion effort after Grahovac’s scoring romp failed.
