RITES HELD FOR JAS. H. MALONEYWas Engineer Forty Years on R. I.- * James H. Maloney, 77, died last Thursday at his home in Estherville after a prolonged illness of nine months, caused by paralysis. Mr. Maloney was engaged for forty years a* stationary engineer at the Hook Island railroad yards, retiring from this work in 1922.Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church, with the Reverend Father Veit officiating.James Henry Maloney was born Oct. 1, 1862. In Essex county, New York. The family later moved to Maryland where Mr. Maloney attended school. In 1881 they moved to Le Mars where Mr. Maloney was married to Mattie Benedict. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom were girls. Two died in infancy.Those who survive him are his wife and nine children: Mary Krah-mer, Estherville; Genevieve Kelly,Emmets burg; Lauretta Omundson, Vail; Joseph B., Chicago, III.; Frances Reynolds, Elat her vllle; Veronica Pesslca, Fort Dodge; Vincent, Es-thervilJe; and Gertrude Diedrieh, Chicago; also, an adopted daughter, Mary Ductile, who lives at home. There are thirty grandchildren. Mr, Maloney was one of thirteen children, four brothers and one sister living in Farmington, Minn., and one sister in Helena, Mont.Mr. Maloney has lived in Esther-ville since 1914. He suffered a stroke of paralysis May 2, 1922, and has been helpless ever since. During the last nine months he was confined to his bed.Attending the funeral services from out of the city were Mrs. Maloney's sister, Mrs, Eddie Steward of Cherokee, and her sons, Dempster and Deforest Steward, and their wives; a sister, Mrs. Eddie Roan, of Sioux City; and two brothers, J. T. Maloney of Farmington, Minn., and Andrew Maloney of St. Paul, Minn.
