The bathing casino was probably the hardest hit of any building in Venice. Being right on the open Gulf, it was subjected to pretty continuous hammering by the angry breakers whipped up by the terrific gale. The water washed away the plank bulkheads in front of it, and pulled the sand away from its foundations, while the wind swept away a temporary addition to the north side |
