Officer, la Shot to Death.Butte.—The body of Lee Vaughn, a jpecfa) policeman at the Columbia Gardens, was found lying in the shrubbery in a remote spot with a bullet hole through his head and liis stiffened fingers upon his revolver, which ho had attempted to draw from its holster before death had seized him. No valuables upon the body had been touched. Vaughn was one of the best known pioneers In Butte aud his murder has caused a sensation.Following a fight which had Its origin in Edward Paul attempting to stop l’eter J. Kelley from taking a pail of beer heme, the latter last night shot Paul twice, probably fatally wounding him. Kelley is a boss at the Bell mine and claims self-defeneo.
