A man living in the Northern part of the county, whose name is —— Dovan- MAN, and who is known as a prominent Democrat in that section, was appointed a delegate from Goshen township to the Bethel Convention. On his way to the Secession concern, he stopped at the house of a relative who has heretofore acted with the Democracy, but is now for the Union ticket. DovaHman was not aware of the change in his friend's views, and urged him to go up to Bethel and be put on as a substitute for a dele gate who did not attend. In the course of their talk on the state of the country, parties, c., Doughman said, in sub stance: “The Republicans charge that the Democrats favor the South, and it is true—but of course we must deny it in public. The leaders in this county all hold this view, but it is only when we know whom we are talking to,and among ourselves, that it will do to make this admission.” We believe Doughman told the truth that time, but was mistaken in his man! Have the people of Cler mont get their eyes open as to the character of the Democratic leaders?
