Stock show at the State Fair by Deming Future Farmers, placed high in judging. Deming boys showed the grand champion ewe and the grand champion ram. The ewe was purchased for the Future Farmers by the Deming Lions club last year. Deming Future Farmers also showed the championship pen of three lambs and took second place with a Southdown ewe lamb. In the hog classes, Deming boys showed the champion Senior Boar and the champion Junior Boar. Kenneth Chadburn took first place with his heavyweight Barrow. Second and third place Duvoc Gitts were also shown. The Deming Future Farmers took only 12 animals to the State Fair, but 11 of the animals won ;prizes Leon Wagley, vocational agriculture instructor, Kenneth Chadburn and Russell Browning, were in charge of the exhibit. Tom Mirahall, son of Judge and Mrs. A. W., Marshall, left on Sunday for Claremont, California, to enter Pomona College for his junior year. Nancy and Albert Lindauer left Tuesday for California. Albert will, enter Stanford and Nancy will go to Oakland. Mrs. Leon Schmelzla and son, ILeslie, of Willcox, Anz., are visit ing at the home of Mrs. Schmelz la's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wilson. Approximately09 bales of cot ton have been ginned since August 29, when Fred Hassman had the first bale ginned a Luna county. Mr Hassman’s bale weighed 550 pounds. Mrs Rolla Buck and son, Edgar, accompanied Coach Buck and his Alamogordo football team here on Friday night. CONGRESSMAN A. M. FERN ANDEZ will be aboard the Presidential train when it ar ives in Deming Saturday morn ing. The Congressman will speak at a big Democratic ray here Thereday night.
