Scientists to Holkt One In Cairo In 1p7. Invitations have been sent out for an international congress of medicine to be held under the patronage of the Ehedive of Egypt at Cairo in Decem ber, 1902. It will be the first great gathering of scientific men ever held in an oriental country, says the New York Sun. The subjects to be consid ered more particularly will be the dis eases that come from the east. Whe n cholera and the bubonic plague, as well as forms of liver complaint, dysentery and ophthahmia prevalent in eastern lands. Tuberculosis and the effects of climate will also be discussed. Among the medical men who are pro moting the congress are Abbate Pasha; Comanos Pasha, physician to the khe- Give; Ibrahim Pasha Massan, dean of the Cairo Medical school; Afol Eloul Bey, the ophthalmologist, and the chief Egyptian physicians, native and for eign. Dr. Voronoff is secretary gen eral of the committee in charge of ar rangements.
