For Science Onljr.[Buffalo Connor.]Muybridge, the photographer who has been taking pictures of the animals at the Philadelphia Zoological Gardens, is to photograph McCaffrey,the pugilistic artist, iu the act of pounding au opponent. The pictures arc to be taken purely in the interest of science, under the auspices of the University of Pennsylvania, and engraved plates of them are to appear iu books to be published by the University. The object, of course, is to illustrate the play of the human muscles in diflercut movements of the body. This recalls the fact that John Ruskin in one of his works on art describee Tom Allen, the famous English pugilist of a former generation, as possessing a noar approach to a perfect human figure. Young women who read Ruskin therefore have been known to set their masuline friends rummaging through print shops after pictures ofthe redoutable Torn in lighting costume.
