Burlington’s “Cutie” contest win ner was Andra Suzann Keen, daughter of Mark and Annette Keen of Burlington and granddaughter of Delmar and Zarita Morris and Sandra Keen and the late Richard Keen. She received a trophy and two $50 savings bonds donated by Salin Bank and Bright National Bank. Charisma Gartin was chosen fes tival queen from among 13 other contestants. The Carroll High School senior is the daughter of Mary Jane and Chet Gartin of Rt. 1, Cutler. First runner-up was Jennifer Price, daughter of Brian and Gay Price of Rt. 1, Cutler. Tricia Ellis, daughter of Sam and Elaine Ellis of Burlington, was second runner-up t and Amber Schimmel, daughter of _and Beth Schimmel of Bur ms, was third runner-up. Miss Personality was Calii y, daughter of Mac and Janet Gray of Rt. 1, Cutler. Other contestants were Angela Hamby, Coleen Larkin, Andrea Harrell, Angie Cox, Brandy Sam mons, Melissa Milburn, Carrie ‘Alspaugh, Jody McKeon, and Catressa Carman. _ The Little Princess and Prince were Chloe Kaye and Nathan Amos, respectively. They are the ildren of Alan and Marilou Kaye and Pat and Becky Amos. #First runner-up to the Little Prin was Whitney Sharp and ‘coach runner-up was Courtney , daughters of Jeff and Pam . Aubrey Birden, daughter of ‘Ron and Diane Birden, was third ‘runner-up. Miss Kaye was also Chosen Miss Personality. ‘Trenton Mann, son of Mike and Rhondd Mann, was first runner-up to the Little Prince. He was also named Mr. Personality. Second runner-up was Adam Van Zile, son of Brian and Terry Van Zile. Caleb Butcher, son of Dan and Kelly Butcher, was third runner-up. There were 18 contestants in the Little Princess Contest and nine contestants in the Little Prince Contest. Winners’ gifts for all the contests were donated by area businesses. Betty Gaither won the Star Sampler quilt which was raffled at the Quilt Show. The Sampler quilt made by the Burlington Quilt Club was sold at auction to Bob Ritchey for $525. Quilt Show winners were: Category 1, 1975-1992 - Joretta Cosby, 1st and 2nd. Category 2, 1950-1975 - Mary Young, 1st and 2nd. Category 3, 1920-1950 - Bob Rodibaugh, 1st; Jan Neptune, 2nd. Category IV,,antique - Mary Bush, 1st; Flora Taylor, 2nd. Captain Stubby was grand mar shal of the annual festival parade which drew 80 entries. The award for the best float went to Bur lington United Methodist Church. The grand marshal’s award was presented to Bill Ripkey, owner of Kokomo Speedway. The Bur lington Fire Department was presented the parade committee award for 50 years of dedicated service to the community. Cutler’s Byron Jervis won the horseshoe pitching contest. Second place went to Dewey Reames of Rt. 1, Bringhurst. Chicken drop winners were Joshua Allen of Battle Ground on Friday and Brad Blackburn of Rt. 1, Cutler, on Saturday. Winner of the barn was Mike Tedlock of Young America. A style show featured fashions from The Brown Suit, The Toy Shop and J-Ann Shop, all in Flora, and from Patty Ratcliff. Entertain ment during the style show was provided by vocalist Tony Stephen of Rt. 1, Cutler. Models for The Brown Suit and The Toy Shop were Candice Elisario, Lacey Miller, Justin, Jayme and Jonathan Sheagrey, Joshua Carstensen, Annette and Andra Keen, John Rinehart, Bobby and Glen Stanley, Janette Atkisson, Linda Huffer, Mike Stanley, Lindsey, Lori and Blake Dukes, Devin Smith, Keristen and Katrina Gibson, and Ed Stephen. Gift cer tificates were won by Debbie Oyler, Mabel Yater and Kathie Northcutt. J-Ann Shop models included Angie Carlson, Janette and Lisa Atkisson, Jennifer Guyer, Dana Smith, Cindy Stanley, Susan Simpson, Amanda Redman, Tammy Alexander, and Gaila Simpson. Steve Moore and Nina Ehrman won the gift certificates which were given away. Models for Patty Ratcliff who sells jackets, purses and jewelry were Sharon Bray, Betsy Freeman, Peggy Cresto, Ashley Freeman, Cora Sherfey, Janette Atkisson, Gaila Simpson, and Angie Carles ton. Door prize winner was Esther Stout. The Fall Festival is sponsored annually by the Burlington Com munity Club. Richard Covert is club president. Internships offered The Indiana Senate Democrat Caucus is accepting applications for 12 legislative internships with the 1993 Indiana General As sembly. The four-month paid internships, which will begin in January, are available to college juniors, seniors, graduate students and recent graduates. No specific major area of study is required. Course credit is determined by each school. Selected students are considered full-time staff throughout the legis lative session which must adjourn by April 30. Each intern works for two senators with the exception of one journalism major who is as signed to work with the media rela tions staff. Intern duties include: legislative research, attending committee hearings, responding to constituent inquiries, writing press releases and assisting senators with daily legis lative activities. Applicants will be interviewed Oct. 7-23 at the State House in In dianapolis and selected by Nov. 4.
