TOM LISTENED TO FAIRY TALESOn Monday afternoon a band of gypsies stoped in Attica, and their train consisted of a large motor truck two touring cars and a ramshackle wagon. The party visited the business district soon after dinner, two women, in large flowered regalia of the regular gypsy type, visited the stores and offices offering (to tell fortunes. They swooped down on the men as their victims, in some places they were ordered out at once, while in others they lingered and unfolded a pleasing story of the good fortunes lying just around the corner for each individual. At the Schlosser Cream station on , Mill street, one of the tribe engaged in conversation with Tom Workinger, while the other took up the attention ’ of his daughter, Miss Josephine, who is clerk in the creamery. Among oth-, er things the fortune teller told Mr.Workinger was to caution him about k not looking in his pocket book, he ’ was not to even take a peep into it { for at least ten days. A lady came ] into the station just in time to overhear these parting instructions of the gypsy fortune teller, and said to Mr. Workinger, “I’d look after my money before those * women got too i far away.” He laughed at the idea, of them taking anything from him, he felt so sure that he had seen every move the woman had made. So he fin-** ally overlooked the “gypsy warning” and counted his money, only to find ' that $40 in bills had disappeared with the light fingered fortune teller. The police were notified at once and the t women wrere located in Tony Schmid’s 5 soft drink parlor. They were made to give back Mr. Workinger his raon-- ey*Policeman'Collins appeared upon the scene about that time and hustled the entire party out of town on short order.
