A case which created quite a lot of interest and some sensation among the people of Enon Grove was tried before Judge Frank S. Loftin last week. Some weeks ago Mr. Leek Staley became incensed at the manner in which Prof. Grover Cook whipped his child. He called at the school grounds the next day, and, after some words, struck the Professor several times with his buggy whip. It was thought at the time that the matter was settled, but later County School Commissioner Cook, father of the young teacher, swore out a warrant againBt Staley, and the community was somewhat divided in sentiment as between Staley and the teacher, bringing many to the trial. After hearing the evidence Judge Loftin held the defendant not guilty.
