J. W; Hobson, a pri vat a soldier nf Fort So I don, was killed on lust Tuesday night by a sergeant named J. \V. Scott. Both parlies are colored, Hobson was drunk andvery noiay and defied the wholepost' to arrest him/ ' He procured an iron bar and chased the sergeant into'one of Ihe government buildings. Hobson was al lor wards persuaded lo give himself up and started to go into the room where the sergeant was to get Ida cap. As lie entered the door the sergeant supposing that he was slill on the war path struck him with a heavy piece of wood mashing hja skull and killing him instantly, The murderer is here in jail, and eleven soldiers came down from Selden to testify before the grand jury which is session,ill A 1 Alif TS lit I It A *.1 * I Kil ..III
