Kossuth County’s oldest resident, 106 year old John Kellner, died Friday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Center. Last rites will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the St. Benedict Catholic church with Father James McAlpin the celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery, the Geilenfeld- Schaaf-McCullough Funeral Service of Algona in charge of the arrangements. Grandsons will be pall bearers. Visitation started at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday, with a parish rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday. John, son of Mathias and Katherine Kirsch Kellner, was born in Germany on Feb. 15, 1871. He came to America with his family at the age of 10 and they settled on a home stead near St. Joe. He was married to Anna Hilbert in 1897 at St. Joe and in 1920 the Kellners moved to a farm near St. Benedict where he retired in 1940. They continued to live on the farm and Mrs. Kellner died in 1944. He became a resident of the Good Samari tan Center in November of 1971. Mr. Kellner is survived by seven children: Matt, Stewart ville, Minn.; Mrs. Catherine Bormann, Algona; Mrs. Susan Arndorfer, St. Benedict; Vin cent, Adams, Minn.; Mar cella, Mrs. Lawrence Becker, Alta Vista, la.; Mrs. Frances Godfredson, San Bernadino, Calif. and Marie, Mrs. Roman Thill, Wesley. There are 44 grandchildren, 117 great grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren.
