A possible suspect was cleared yesterday of any implication in the death of a Y. W. C. A. cus todian who perished in a mys terious crumbling blast five min utes after reporting to work Tues day morning. Chief of Police Frank Riddle said the “grudge” suspect, 2 jan itor who had been discharged and given unfavorable reference re cently, was dropped as the chief Suspect when it was learned he could prove an alibi and was out of the state at the time of the explosion, + + + THE VICTIM, Carl Ross, 63 years old, R. 8. 6, will be buried today while many baffling questions re main unsolved. Chief Riddle said yesterday, , “Our investigators are faced with three primary problems in the case—What kind of explosive was used? Who would have access to thhis type of explosive, obtained either by purchase or theft? What was the possible motive? FBI laboratory technicians are t trying to answer at least one of these questions today.
