Vol. XXXVI.THE FUNERAL OF AMY ESTELLE COXThe grim reaper, Death, came as sweet release to Amy Estelle Cox on last Thursday morning, following several weeks of suffering, and wafted her tiny spirit to realms where suffering and sorrow are unknown. Although only thirteen years of age, she had made many friends both with her playmates and among her older acquaintances. She had a kind and loveable disposition and seemed to care more for the happiness and pleasure of her playmates than for her own. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam Cox, are heartbroken over , the untimely death of their only daughter and the tender love that can exist only between parent and child, -will never die.The funeral services at the M. E. church South at 11 o'clock last Sunday morning were largely attended by | friends who gathered to pay their last respects to their beloved friend. Rev.J. E. Moore pastor of the church, made a few brief, but impressive, remarks in his usual eloquent manner. The floral offerings sent by friends and schoolmates of the little bne, as a token of their last remembrance for ] her love and many kindnesses, • were numerous and very pretty. A sad ^ part of the services were at the close * of the remarks by Rev. Moore, when ' the family gathered about the casket ’ and the father and mother stood arm- ‘ in-arm and looked for the last time ' upon the earthly form of their child. The heartbroken parents have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow. sIn speaking of the life of the child, c Rev. Moore said, in part: “Amy *Estelle Cox, beloved daughter of , Brother Wiliam M. and Sister Eugenia Cox, was born in Ukiah, California, on the 24th day of March, 1898 and ^ departed this life in her native town on the 14th day of September, 1911 being thirteen years, five months and s twenty days of age. |“Amy was brought up in the \ Christian faith. She was baptized by f Brother Winsor of the M. E. church, j at the request of her parents, on the 20th day of August, 1899, and she confirmed this act of consecration to God by her parents by joining on pro- G fession of faith the M. E. church j South, on the 20th day of March j 1908, under the pastorate of Brother Govette. She has been a member of ^ this Sunday school since she was a little child.j“She is survived by her father and \ mother, three brothers, Chester, Ray and Winnie, her Grandfather and Grandmother and a large circle of i relatives who loved her dearly. *
