DEMOCRATS IN COUNCIL!THE CNNTY CONVENTION!TIKE PROCEEDINGS—THE 0EI~ OATES-THE nominations.«The attendance at the Democratic i County Convention, held on Monday 1 last in the Court House at Angelica, | was unusually large and evidences an unwonted degree of interest and activity on the part of the Democrats, c AIJ the towns but one was represented, and by men whose pretence at the Convention betokened a renewed belief in the ultimate success of the par-11i ty principles, nThat there were two elements of the Democracy, each strongly represented, was very evident, but as each : exercised commendable courtesy and 1; forbearance, the harmony of thegath-1; ering was in no wise disturbed. In fact it is a matter of earnest congratu- ; iation that the all pervading idea appeared to be peace in the party, and I the election of Hancock and English. 11 Of course there was the usual ante-11 Convention skirmishing, and the ac- , customed manoevers to win over delegates before hand, but there was an absence of bitterness and a general good temper prevailed. IThe convention was called to order 1 at about half-past two P. M. by J* J. Upson, Chairman of the County Committee, who nominated as Chairman j of the Convention Hon. E. D. Lover-idge, of Cuba. The nomination was unaminousty agreed to. W. W. Nichols, of the Wellsviile Democrat, and R. C. Hill, of the Friendship Chronicle, were chosen Secretaries.The Chair in a brief but effective I speech stated the object of the Convention.The roll of towns was then called by the Secretaries, all being represented but Alma. Two sets of credentials were handed in from Amity, and a Mr. Hartshorn objected to the delegation which presented credentials from Friendship. jOn motion the Chair appointed G. D. Miller, Cyrus Bissell andL. S. Bennett as a committee on contested del- j egations. IAn adjournment was then taken in order to allow the committee tp investigate the matter of contested delegations.On reassembling the committee reported that Messrs.G. S. Jones, E. W. Chamberlain and Charles Greenan had been duly chosen from the town of Amity, and that the three delegates whose credentials had been handed in from the town of Friendship were justly entitled to seats in the convention.On motion the report of the Committee was unanimously adopted.The Secretaries then called the roll of towns and the following delegates responded:Alfred.—Stillman Burdiok, E, E.
