Deceased was fifty*nine years old, and was one of the best citi-ZKuaof his race in Petersborg, lie was ever courteous and polite and obliging, and was possessed of aa intelligence lr above the gen* «rality oi kis class, i'or a great tnauy years he was the leader of an excellent band in this city, which in the good times past was always engaged for service by the white p oplc on occasions of balls and parties.
