■4.’-Open HouseFour years in planning, a year in building and more than a half-million dollars in spending will be climaxed , Sunday when the National Bank of Gatesville formally opens its distinctive - new banking center at the corner of Main and North 10th Streets/Open house will be held at the striking new structure from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.Our aim was to make this a building which would be a significant and beautiful landmark, and we’re anxious for everybody in this area to see it and the many modem banking facilities it houses, Dawson Cooper, the National's president, said in extending to the general pubiic an invitation to attend the open house.The National made the move from its historic location on the bank comer” at Main and 7th Streets on Aug. 18^19-20, and began operations at (he new site on Aug. 21, exactly 83 years after the bank's original charter was granted.THE OPEN HOUSE was delayed, however, until last-minute finishing touches were completed and the bank’s force settled in in its new home.On hand to greet Sunday’s visitors and conduct them Ihrough this banking showplace will be ail the bank’s officers and employees—Andrew Kendrick, W. D. Cooper, Cam H, McGilvray, F. W. Straw, David Barnard, Charles Ivy, Marilyn Baize, Patsy Brazzll, Patsy Hollingsworth, Linda Knoll, Nan Lee, Billie Powell, Mary Lou Powell, Jane Rainer, Anne Sexton, Anne Shults, Mrs. K. The banking careers of these two men have been spent in Gatesville and extend back into the 1920's. Cooper joined the First National Bank in December, 1926, andbecame its cashier. Kendrick joined the Gatesville National Bank in January, 1929, and rose to the vice presidency. When the two banks merged in 1938 to form the National Bank of Gatesville, Kendrick and Cooper retained their titles of vice president and cashier, respectively.
