His successor, Professor Robinson, of Belfast, delivered tho usual address on tho position of science, and thoobjects and success of tho association. On the following morning, tho various sections of ‘tho Aflflociatlbn com-incnced their sittings, in rooms provided nt tho Prco Orammar School, tho Philosophical Institution, nnd I the QiiecnV Hospital, On Monday, tho Boctioria opened 1 again, nnd some papcra were read, several of which were of great interest. A meeting of tho general committee took place this afternoon, Professor Ilobin-I son, the President of the Association, in the chair. The busmens was to select a place for holding tho incet-I ing of the Association next year. Deputations attended I from Edinburgh, Belfast, Ipswich, Manchester, nnd Hull. Afternbricfdiscussion,HirRoderick I. Murchison proposed, and the Dean of Ely seconded u motion, to the effect that Edinburgh should ho the place for tho I Association to meet next year. In making this mo~I tion, tho learned knight said, that ho hoped, if hia | motion wcro carried, it would bo with the understanding that tho Association vlsitod Ipswich in 1851. Tho motion was carried unanimously ; nnd tho first I week in August was named m the limn of holding tho mooting.—On tho motion of Colonel flnbino, seconded by Mr. Leonard Horner, Sir David Brewster was elected President of tho Association for next year.
