Advocate Port Lavaca Bureau PORT LAVACA. Sept. 19—Law suits totaling $131,000 have been filed in District Court here against the Henderson Drilling Co. for claims growing out of an accident which claimed the life of Trinidad Perez of Bloomington. The suits were filed by Joe E. Kelly, Victoria attorney, for Dina Perez and Felipe Estrada. Mrs. Perez, in her petition, asks 875,000 for damages in the death of her husband. Estrada is suing the company for $56,000 because of damages and personal injuries suffered by himself and his son, Manuel Estrada. The accident happened Sept. 4 near the Lavaca Bay causeway approach across from the Point Comfort fishing center. Estrada and Perez, who was driving, were returning from a visit in Francitas. The suit alleges that the acci dent, a head on collision, was caus ed by the negligence of R. R. Sanderfer, an employe of the oil company. The suit alleges that Sanderffer, a former Port Lavacan, failed to operate his car in a ‘‘safe and prudent manner.’ The petition further alleges that Sanderfer was under the influence of intoxicating beverages at the time of the accident. Sanderfer, who has been chaig ed with negligent homicide in county court, is still in Calhoun County Memorial Hospital with injuries received in the wreck.
