Hermansville, Sept. 19 (Spe cial)—David Downey and his daughter Miss Sarah, left Sun day afternoon for Pontiac, Michi gan, where they will spend the next few days attending the Knights of Pythias convention Which is being held there, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Mattson have returned to their home in this city after spending the past two Weeks in Munising where they visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Becker. Miss Beatrice LaCosse and Miss Margaret Frisk left Friday for Green Bay where they will spend a few days visiting with relatives of Miss Friske. Miss K. Lowney and Miss Nor een Sealy have returned to this city after spending the past week in Republic, Mich., where they were Visiting with Miss Sealy’s parents, Wm. Meister of Green Bay, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bonneau. Mr. and Mrs. John Klimola left Friday evening for Chicago where they are attending the Cen tury of Progress, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Floriana and family of Iron Mountain were callers at the home of Mr and Mrs. Povolo on Saturday, Joseph St. Juliana spent the week end in Menominee at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Graves, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vickery were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fortier in Iron Mountain on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Larson of Es ‘anaba spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. . E. Allen. Mr. and Mrs. Hector Lander ville spent the week-end with Mr Landerville’s parents in Detour, Mich, Mr. and Mrs. George Tart) were callers at the E. Boiselaire home on Sunday. Willard Mattson has returned to his home in this city, after spending the summer months in Munising where he was em ployed. Carlton Schwartz was a guest at the Sharon home in Wilson on Sunday. James Morton of Waucedah Was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bonneau on Sunday evening. Mrs. Raymond Goodreau and daughter Patsy have returned to their home after spending the past Week in Daggett at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ellingson. Mrs. J. Rickel and son of So bieski, spent the weekend at the home of her son, Ben fickle. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Wallett were callers at the home of Mary LaBeau in Nadeau on Sunday. Miss Edith LaFave teacher in the local school spent the week end at the home of her parents in Escanaba. Mr. and Mrs. FE. B. Sturm and family were callers at the home of Mrs. Dave Gendron and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gendron on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carney of Iron Mountain and daughter Patsy Were callers at the home of Mrs. Chas. Carney on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ohman and daughter of Gladstone were guests at the Chris Gribble home on Sunday. Surprise Party Given A surprise birthday party was given in honor of Mrs. Harold Al len at her home on Saturday aft ernoon Sept. 16th. Several guests from Hermansville and Cunard were present. Two tables of Five Hundred were played with high honors being awarded to Miss Beatrice Panzram and second high to Mrs. Ethel Farley. Also two ta bles of Bunco were played with the high score prize to Mrs. EB, EB, Allen and ten honors to Miss Kivelyn Schwartz. A luncheon was served at o'clock at which time a beautiful guest gift was presented to Mrs. Allen.
