Miss Helen Stewart left Friday morning for New Riegel, C., where she will teach this year. The Christian Endeavor of the Re formed Presbyterian Church gave a reception, Friday evening in the Church parlors for the new students at the college. Mr. Jesse Morris is in a very ser ious condition, suffering from heart trouble. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jones of Springfield spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Collins. The Juniors and Seniors of the High School held a spread Friday ev ening at Riverside Farm. Miss Mary Taylor left Monday for Columbus where she enters Grant Hospital to take up nurses’ training. Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Smith have been spending the week near Detroit, Mich for the benefit of Mr. Smith’s hay fever. Miss Grace Trumbo of Indianola, Ia., and Miss Ruth Snoup of Xenia, friends of Messrs. Delmar and Mer ald Jobe were guests at the Jobe home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Glover of Dayton spent the weekend with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Chas Saum. Mis. Alice Finney of near Yellow Springs entertainer last Wednesday afternoon honoring Mrs. Paul Fergu son of Summerford, Ind., Those at tending from this vicinity were Miss es Harriet and Christine Kyle, Mrs. Florence Rife, Mrs. A. T. Finney and Mrs. J P. Finney. Little Miss Eleanor Packman was hostess last Thursday to about four teen of her little friends and play mates, who came to help her celebrate her second birthday. Light refresh ments were served and outdoor games played. The affair was a com pliment from her uncle Arthur Mc Farland. Rev. A. R. Graham of LaFayette, Ind., and Rev. Homer McMillan of Atlanta, Ga., were here last week to attend the funeral of Miss Mary Mur dock. W. L. Clemans and Thomas Matte son of South Charleston spent the week in the northern part of the state looking after real estate. Some of the local people who are teaching this year are Miss Josephine Randall, who teaches at East Liberty, Ohio; Edwin Bradfute at West Alex andria, Ohio; Miss Donna Burns near Toledo; Cecil Burns at Washington D. C. and Helen Creswell at Milan, O Word has been received here of the marriage of Huber Gillaugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gillaugh of Dayton to Miss Olinger of Dayton, on Saturday Sept. 2. Mr. Gillaugh has been connected with the Dayton Sav ings Trust Co., for the past few years. The bride and groom will make their home in Dayton. Mrs. Mary A. Houchins was given a pleasant surprise at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. B. E. McFarland, last Sunday, the occasion being her eighty-fourth birthday. A large birthday cake bear ing eighty four candles formed the centerpiece for the dinner table, it being presented to her by her grand son and wife. Those present were Mrs Mary Stump of Lima, Mrs. Maggie Benham, of Dayton, Mr. Hoover and Mrs. Suellen of Sabina, Mr. and Mrs. Herman McFarland and daughter Rosemary, of Wilmington, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hewitt of Selma, Mrs. Alice McLean and Lois McFarland. Mrs. Judith Emma Sayres, wife of, Dr. John Sayres of Zion City, Ind., passed away at her home Sept. +. She is survived by her husband and two children. Dr. Sayres was for nine years superintendent of schools here. Mr. and Mrs. John Lott of Pitts burg are here on a visit with rela tives.
