Little Miss Writes Very Good LetterThe following letter was written for a fifth grade language lesson by little Mina Margaret McCoy, its ex-ceptlonal excellence deserves special notice:Ashland. Ore.. Sept. 16, 1015.My Dear Phillis and Amber: Youshould have come out here with your sister. There are many mountains und trees and wild flowers. As a rule the summers never get very hot nor the winters very cold.About ninety miles from here Is one of the wonders of the world. Its name iu Crater Lake. It was formerly u volcanic mountain, and after the eruption it sank below the mountains around it and filled with water, and it Is now a large, beautiful blue lake surrounded by cliffs.About thirty miles from Ashland Is Rogue river.We have a beautiful park. We also have a free auto camp ground and playground. At the camp ground there Is a kitchen with aliout thirty gua stoves and about thirty cabinets and a sink. At the playground they have two slides, four teeter-totters, ton swings, high rings and low rings, a swinging ladder and a giant stride. But I have a slide, swing nnd trapexe at my home and there Is a giant stride on the school grounds, so there is not much use for me to go to the playgrounds.We have two nntntoriums, with sulphur swimming pools.We have a good many lithia and soda springs. We have found a spring just outside the city limits that is one of the most wonderful springs In the world. It Ia a mixture that the doctors have been trying to get for years.We have several nice schools, and your sister teaches in what I call the best graded school.Most every year our peaches are so thick that we can hardly give them away. This year father filled four holes big enough for n baby’s coffin full of them.Your friend,MARGARET McCOY.
