Mme. Bernhardt’s ChampionNew Yojik, Sept, 19.—1The World's special cable from Paris says: “Maurice Bernhardt has once more been the champion in the cause of his mamma. He fought a short engagement yesterday with M. Alexis, one of the staff of the late Jules Valle’s revolutionist paper, who had writ-ten an article reflecting on the tragedienne. M. Alexis was quite severely wounded in the sword arm In connection with the Bernhardt family, it may be mentioned that one of the company which was in South America says that love for her son takes precedence over every thing in the principles and practices of the actress. M. Maurice Bernhardt journeyed through America like a prince of blood royal. In South America he was a perfect glass of fashion and mold o* form for all the young dandies of Peru and Brazil. To the women ho was the most incomparable of Don Juans. What he was in New York is well known.”
