Escape narrowVINTON — A Vinton woman barely escaped serious injury or death Wednesday when she jumped from her stalled vehicle seconds before it was struck by an oncoming train.Margaret Finn’s vehicle had stalled on the tracks at the Fanchcr Street crossing. She attempted to start it several times before abandoning it. Although scratched and bruised during her speedy exit, a Vinton Volunteer Fire Department spokeswoman said. Finn refused medical treatment at the scene.Seconds after she exited the vehicle, it was struck by an cast-bound train and dragged, finally coming off the tracks a block away at the Horridce Streetcrossing.
