Kids7 Day peanut sale to help, finance new parkMuscatine Kiwanis club will sponsor the 1973 Kiwanis Kids’ Day peanut sale this week Friday and Saturday.Kiwanis president John McMullan has appointed Leon T. Hankins as peanut day chairman. MeMullan and Harold Ogilvie are heading the underwriting committee. Austin Hanson and T.A. Wil-1 i a m s are the manpower chairmen, with Dave White and Kermit Cook as the publicity chairmen.Williams will be captain of the Plaza group of Kiwanis volunteers with headquarters at the Montgomery Ward mail order department. Hankins will be captain of the downtown group o f volunteers, with headquarters at Hankins plumbing shop, 419 E. 2nd. St.Kiwanis Kids Day is a fund-raising program to help finance the Kiwanis plans to make a neighborhood playground park at the site of the former Eversmeyer’s pond. This is a city owned area between Mulberry and Orange St., just north of 11th St.Kiwanis has shown a proposed plan to the Muscatine park board for the Eversmey-er-Kiwanis park and it has .been approved. It will be built as soon as the funds are raised to cover the cost of materials. If not enough is raised this year at least pari of it will be done and the rest will be continued next year.Some of the YMCA Indian Guides and YWCA Y-Teens will be assisting Kiwanis volunteers in the peanut sale.
