David M. Holstein Announces Plans for Syracuse Symphony Scholarship FundMusic lovers in a position to .provide needy music students with tickets to the coming concert season of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra are invited to contribute to the scholarship fund for this purpose, according to an announcement made by David m. Holstein, chairman of the Symphony Management Committee.Last season, hundreds of requests for the*limited number of scholarship tickets had to be refused. But this year, it is hoped, through the generosity of those In a position to adopt a music-loving “orphan,” that many more tickets will be available. The Syracuse Symphony Orchestramakes its first appearance .of the 1339-40 season the night of Oct. 5 at Lincoln auditorium. Central High School. Percy Grainger, renowned pianist and composer, will be guest soloist.Scholarship tickets will be given to needy music students through the officials of the Y.M.C.A.. Y.W.C.A.. the Music Settlement, Syracuse University, the public schools, and through private music teachers for carefully controlled distribution.Scholarship eontrblutions may bo sent to the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Inc., P. O. Box 1, or to any member of the committee.
