of Reading, former chairman of the state commission on administration and finance and former senator for whom ex-Mayor Harvey A. Gallup of this city is serving as state ad visory committee chairman; former Judge Kenneth D. Johnson of Mil ton and Robert Gardiner Wilson Jr., Boston city councilman, Secretary of State Frederick W Cook is unopposed for renomination on the Republican ticket but six Democrats are contesting for the right to run against him in the election. They are William J Ahearne and John M. Bresnahan, both of Lynn. Henry Clay of Spring field, Katherine A. Foley of Law rence, and William F. Sullivan and John H. Wallace of Boston. Many Seek Treasurership Republican State Treasurer Wil liam E. Hurley is opposed for his party's renomination by Alonzo B. Cook, one-time state auditor, and John J. Hurley of Revere while there are eight candidates for the Democratic nomination for state treasurer: William F. Barrett of Lowell, Ernest J. Brown of Boston William H. Burke, Jr.. of Hatfield, Joseph W. Doherty of Brookline, Owen Gallagher of Boston, John F Harkins of Needham, Daniel J Honan of Winthrop, John J. Mc Grath of Boston, State Auditor Thomas H. Buckley has John J. Barry of Everett and Leo D. Walsh of Boston as his op ponents for Democratic renomina tion while Carl D. Goodwin of Bos ton and Russell A. Wood of Cam bridge are the candidates for the Republican nomination, Attorney General Paul A. Dever is unopposed for the Democratic re nomination. The candidates for the Republican attorney generalship nomination are Howe Coolidge Anes of Cambridge, Clarence A. Barnes of Mansfield and Frank F. Walters of Boston. Besides helping to pick party can didates for state-wide district and county offices, local voters will be privileged to elect delegates to their state party conventions and members of their party ward committees but there are no contests for the former honors and no candidates at all list ed. The statutes provide that the present ward committee may serve for two more years Polling Hours The polls will open here at 1 o'clock in the morning and close at 8 o clock in the evening with the usual ward and precinct polling places in use If past experience is repeated not more than half of the City’s 10584 registered voters will bother to go to the polls In Adams the voting begins at 1 o'clock in the morning and con tinues until 7 in the evening. Wil liamstown will vote from noon to 6 in the evening Clarksburg from noon to 5 p. m., Florida between 1 and 6 p. m. and Savoy between 11 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon The former Miss Josephine Gerth Peyton of the University of Virginia, who became the bride of Robert Nathan Flood, son of Mr. and Mrs. George B.
