IMMJS ARRIVETraveling around the world on a trip of 32,000 miles, Miss Estell Mason, of Alaska, arrived in the city Sunday morning about 9 o’clock, driving a pack of six Siberian-Alas* kan Malamote dogs hitched to her small wagon. She left Goshen late Saturday evening and after traveling all night arrived in Kendullville.Miss Mason left Nome, Alaska, Oct. 27, 1908, for a trip around the world and is scheduled to arrive at the Panama Exposition to be held at San Francisco, Cah. not later than May 1, 1915. She must make her expenses by selling post cards which show a pieture of her train of dogs hitched to a sled. Upon completing the trip she will receive a prize of $12,500 to be given by the All Alaska Sweep Stake Race company. On completing her journey she must have two of the original dogs and the sled.After leaving Nome, Miss Mason was prepared to meet the trials anj burdens of this great trip. Garbed in furs she departed from the cold country on an Alaskan-Yukon mail sled and is the only woman who ever crossed British Columbia with a trai nof dogs. The first 3,885 miles of her journey through the frozen north were made by sled, and on this trip she endured many hardships. After crossing British Columbia she secured her first set of wheels,. taken from wheel barrows, which she used for her wagon. She now has a light wagon upon which is placed her sled.Miss Mason is wearing a coat of tan and is enjoying the best of health. During the summer months she visits many of the leading resorts along her route and this week is at the Kendallvile fair. She does most of her traveling in the winter and makes an average of twenty miles a day. At present all of her dogs are in good condition and are withstanding the trip remarkably well. The trip is also being made to test the strength and ability of the breed of Malamote huskies.Between the fair races Miss Mason will give an exhibition drive in front of the large grand stand at the fair grounds, according to information given out this afternoon by President Case of the association.cc a i it is ar te hi M re to d(ft
