BROW NFIELD 'Till, Knickerbocker club opened iG * alleys for preliminary work in bowling prior to the opening of the regular tournament season on October 15 last week and many local stars are practicing in an effort to get into their usual form.Ten teams base applied for berths in the two minor leagues, and»from all appearances the junior rollers will he taken care of as the management has closed a contract for the instalation of two new alleys.The decision to import two more high class regulation tournament alleys at an approximate cost of 14000, was made by the management to eliminate the congestion suffered the last several years.The final date for teams desiring entrance into the minor league has been set for October 10.County commissioner Johnny Andreas announced several days ago that he would he on hand with a high class tough major league combination. and promised to give the competition in this particular loop plenty of trouble before the season expired. It has not been decided whether four or five men will constitute a major league team.I he Popular Dry Goods company, having had yearly representation in the major loop, will have a crew to start the season, as will the Fred .?. Feldman company. This will permit room for one more club to enter, since it has always been found satisfactory to have four well-balanced clubs in the older organisation.Sims Davis is expected to have a team in the major loop to represent the Purity Bakers, in addition to a commercial or industrial league team.At present El Paso has some 25 or 3b major league rollers, and there should he no difficulty in getting a well balanced league from this crop.The managers or captains who have entered teams in the two minor leagues, are requested to file their team membership lists as soon as convenient in order that placing can he started, and a decision arrived at. as to whether the handicap rule shall prevail.A IAkC(siklt;PiMtlMirfit17iVianluhepi'HiEi./Airr i.
