OPENING OF THE LIVERPOOL NEW MECHANICS* INSTITUTION.-This splendid edifice, which has been erected by a voluntary subscription amongst our townsmen, for the education and instruction of their poorer brethren, was op nrd last night. It is welt kaown that the sectional m«-tings of the British Association have been held within its walls, but it is not so generally considered that every endeavour has been made, at no slight sacrifice of money, (the workmen hating been kept employed until midnight for the last three months) to get the Institution ready. Such being the case, it was extremely gratifying to find seteial distinguished members ofthat Association, includiug its noble President, testifying their eatimutioQ of their accommodation by their presence. The spacious theatre, capable of accommo-dating upwards of 1,200 persons with seat room,w »r crowded to excess before eight o’clock, numerous individuals being unable to obtain a seat throughout the evening. The show of well-dressed Judies was extremely animating, and augured well for the future success of the institution, for, whatever they take aninter :«t in is sure to flourish. Amongst the distinguished individuals present we noticed— EarI of Burlington, 1. H . Wse, M.P., R. Hutton, M.P., T.Tboraley, M-Pm Peter Ainsworth, M.P., E.
