Masonic Lodge Honors Retiring SecretaryDearborn Lodge No. 310, A.F. A.M., honored its retiring secretary, Carl T. Ruth, following the regular meeting of the lodge last Thursda) night. He was presented with a handsome, engraved wrist watch, as a parting gift.Mr.-Ruth, a past master of Dearborn Lodge, and its secretary for five vears after having been its treasurer for eight years, is moving to Iron Mountain, Mich., to spend his retirement. He was assistant manager of district operations of the Pullman Co., by whom hewas employed for 44 years. He is retiring because the Pullman Co. is going out of business.The presentation was made at a supper by Ferdinand Ross, worshipful master of the lodge.Robert Ladd, of Orland Park, succeeds Mr. Ruth as secretary, a busy office in any Masonic Lodge.Dearborn is one of the older lodges in the Illinois jurisdiction. It was established 110 years ago at Chicago and continued to meet there until this summer when permission was granted by theGrand Lodge of Illinois to move to Orland Park.Since then it has taken in many new members, most of whom being transfers from other lodges.Until the Orland Park lodge was established the nearest Masonic lodges were in Oak Lawn, Blue Island, Harvey, Lockport and Joliet.Exodus of residents fromithe city to the suburbs has reported reduced attendance at city lodge meetings so apparently if the suburbs j won't come to the city the city lodges are contemplating ( coming to the suburbs.
