(Week of Sept. 21, 1939) Dr. J. T. Luper of Huntsville, pastor of the Singleton Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Lovell of Pasadena, who had charge of the song services, and Mrs. L. R. Ross of Hunts ville, pianist, conducted a very successful meeting at Singleton last week. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. for Mrs. Gladys Earl Wade, 27, at the family residence at Wellborn. Appointment of three farm ers as an advisory committee for this county to select ten ants who will receive farm purchase loans has been an nounced by the Farm Security Administration. Committee members named are Lee Montgomery of Richards, J. E. Callender of Bedias and Sol Meyer of Navasota. Navasota All-Stars defeated the Richards softball players in a game played on the local diamond Thursday. The score was 7-6. The Tate’s Dry Cleaners es tablishment has just installed a Butler Vacuum Still which will purify the cleaning field, it is said by the owners. At the regular meeting of the Junior Chamber of Com merce Thursday evening, an amendment to the constitution and by-laws was made to elect officers twice a year in stead of once as the old docu ment read. Forms have been set on the bridge crossing Cedar Creek near the Schumacher Oil Works and concrete is expect ed to be poured within a few days. The bridge was complet ed sometime ago, but this work was held up owing to other duties of the city work force. The annual house party of the Baptist Young Woman's Auxiliary and Young Girls Auxiliary of the 15th district of the Woman's Missionary Union of Texas opened Tues day on the campus of Mary Hardin-Baylor College at Bel ton.
