The story proceeds to relate how it all came about. The action is in Shanghai and the chief villain is the sinisterGeneral Yang, whose secret arrival * ---GET a quote for your Job, for all building materials, from Central Timber Yard.caused great commotion amongst the other people of the story, the unscrupulous George Marcelles, who is the General’s agent, does a clever bit of double-crossing and also win* tho love of the youthful and inexperienced Janice, and the other characters strive to rescue her from hiB clutches. Gerald O'Harc, a dashing red-haired Irishman, gives the villeins plenty of quick action, and the adventuress. Irene Mallory, for whom he falls so hard, is an outstanding character. The story has been made into a film under the same title.In Regency Buck.” Miss Georgette Heyer reveals once more her skill in blending action and character while supplying a convincing background of Old England. The story centres round Judith Taverner and her brother Peregrine, who went to London and became part of the fashionable throng which circles round the Prince Regent. It was a period of foppishness and extravagance and Miss Heyer. while attending efficiently to the business of developing s swiftly-moving story of love and villainy, presents also a very interesting picture of the foibles of the Regency bucks and the flighty women to whom they make love. Princes and Dukes strut through the pages, while cockfights, curricle races and boxing contests add color and excitement.
