The Aid Hardware company of West Plains has found a novel way to combat the mail order house. Stacked up in the big store of this firm are 5,000 mail order catalogues that have been brought in during the last two months. When the Aid Hardware com pany inaugurated a booster contest early in the summer, coupons were given to purchasers of goods. These coupons were voted for the girls who are contesting for prizes in the booster contest. Coupons were given for mail order catalogs and these coupons also could be voted in the contest. Hundreds of catalogs were brought in by girls entered in the contest. One of the girls had an automobile and she drove all over the country begging the wives of farmers for mail order catalogs. Other girls had horses and buggies and they, too, were out collecting catalogs that are a menace to the home merchant. One of the girls had more than one thousand catalogs.
