Alma Olson 735-2739 This beautiful, sunshiny September day is such a contrast to the storm we had. We haven't had one like that for a long, long time. Laurine Ammeter and Phyllis Johnson served a dinner to 17 guests at the Starview Manor. The menu included ham and sausages, baked potatoes and cole slaw, tomatoes and cucumbers and fresh apple pie with apples from Charley’ Ammeter's apple tree. It is a bless ing to have people who care. Our L.C.W. women are purchasing $100 worth of children’s books for their library. The Meridian Interfaith council met at the United Church in answer to the request to present a Thanksgiving program to observe the Municipality and Macdonald's Centennial. A new member was welcomed to council. Reverend Albert Durksen from Springstein joined us. He is the Mennonite minister. The service will be at Oakbluff Sunday, Oct. 11, The Starbuck ‘Hall' committee served a roast beef dinner to 113 teachers and trustees of the Municipality of Macdonald. Oh, to be a teacher! Lillian Bowska had a corsage party at which Ruth Gellathy showed how to make silk and fiber flowers. Eleanor Vier, Sadie Cekanauskas, Emma Lindsay, Veen Riese, and Ethel Carlson attended. They meet twice a week. What a nice thought for a gift! We had a beautiful demons tion of corsage making at the Hor ticultural meeting also. Virginia Braun, Resi Vif and Jane Tishinsk had the “students” reaaly working, i t was a very efficient and en joyable evening! ~ Dora Schnell, Florence Masse’s sister from Kelowna, B.C, had the misfortune of breaking her ankle in three places while on holidays here. She was in the hospital for a week. After Dora stayed with her son Ralph at Morris, Ralph is any RCMP officer, September 8 was an enjoyable day for IQ members of the Starlight Drop-In Centre. Elie and Pearl Baldwin, George and Ethel Carlson, Theodore and Mary Masse, Irving and Veen Riese. Helen Olson and Eva Shirtliff went to Steinbach and toured the Derksen Printers guided by M. Derksen. This was followed by a short visit to the museum and Supper in the park. After supper they paid a visit to Nettie and John Krebbs and on the return trip stop was made at Ste Anne to vis; another former resident of the Star buck district, Albert Lavallee, Du, to illness or other commitment, some members were unable 1 come. Helmia Qually was in and out of the hospital before I knew. She had hip surgery and has sure not slow ed down. It's nice to have all good news!
