Her dolls dated from 1858 to 1976 and included wooden dolls, composition dolls, Paul -Revere pottery dolls, Kewpie dolls of Rose O'Neil, and bisque dolls. Dolls must pass certain standards of craftsmanship and are an aid in teaching history. There were representations of Clara Barton, the Pilgrims, George Washington Carver, and other great Americans as well ascharacters from famous books. All were dressed in authentic clothes typical of their time.The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer. A table prayer was sung before lunch was served by Carol Bowers, Bessie Thompson, Mildred Allenstein, and Kay Baumgartner.Everyone enjoyed viewing the many flowers, plants, and vegetables displayed around the room and also the collection of pictures and relics brought by Lottie Behrenshad from her last trip to Germany.Vernon Shaw, Jr., from Round Lake, Illinois, was an overnight guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Shaw on Tuesday, September 7.* * *Roger West and family, Cedar Rapids, spent the weekend at the parental Robert West home. Valmah Bach tell.a a aFuneralServicesPEARL WADE ROBERTSFuneral services for Pearl WadeT Roberts, 90, were held Thursday. September 2, 1976, at 1:00 p.m. at the Gleim Funeral Home with Rev. Laura Odegard officiating.Pearl Wade Roberts was born on March 5, 1886, at Arlington,Iowa. She was the daughter of Walter and Emma Roberts Jewette. Pearl went to school and ; graduated from the Arlington High School. She also attended Upper Iowa at Fayette. She taught country school for one year.In 1905 Pearl married Harry Wade. To this union 3 daughters were born, Ruth, Lillian, and M.Faye. In 1945 Mr. Wade passed away and in 1952 Pearl married Harrison Roberts, who passedaway in 1956.The following year she moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, where she lead an active life, until she was admitted to the Homestead Convalescent Center. She passed away at the center on August 31, 1976, at the age of 90 years 5 months and 26 days.Pearl was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Arlington chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. When she lived in Arlington she was a bookkeeper for the Interstate ; Power Company. She was also* 4the head bookkeeper for the J. M. Bostwick Department Store at Janesville, Wisconsin.Pearl is survived by her 3 daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Charles Knight, Janesville, WisconsinDLillian, Mrs. Cyril Pritchett, Rockford, Illinois; and M. Faye, Mrs. George Gaynor, Great Falls, Montana; 3 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. She was preceeded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, and 4 sisters.The Gleim Funeral Home wasin charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Taylorsville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Ward, Herbert Brown, Alfred Turner, Leslie Yearous, Harley Seedorff and Homer Chapman.others remembered and cared.Ruth KnightLillian PritchettM.
