Los Lunas School Board. . . evaluation committee listapprovedA list of names to be submitted to Gov. Bruce King for selection of a 10-man committee to evaluate the Los Lunas school system was approved Tuesday night by the Los Lunas School Board at their regular meeting. However, approval did not come until some changes had been made.The Los Lunas School District was selected as one of 10 pilot districts in the state for evaluations to be conducted by special committees composed of concerned citizens, parents and teachers.Recommendations for people to be on the committees are to come from the local level with Gov. King, assisted by legislators, the state school superintendent and the chief of public school finance to make the final appointments.At the board meeting, Supt. Bernard Baca submitted a list of names to the board for approval so the list could be sent to Gov. King. Prior to asking board approval, Baca read the letter sent to him describing how the people for the committees were to be selected.The letter said people should be selected geographically and ethnically and cautions the school board and the school superintendent to be involved as little as possible in the selection.Juan Abeita, the governor of Isleta Pueblo, told the board at the meeting that he was dissatisfied with the choice of names and the districts represented. He said he felt there was a lack of Indian representation.Board member Fred Luna said he felt two more names should be added to theafter some additionslist: Albert Charino from Isleta and Ralph Melbourne from Bosque Farms.The board passed a resolution approving the list of names but with the proviso that Gov. Abeita add any names he felt were appropriate and with the addition of Charino and Melbourne.Yesterday morning Gov. Abeita told Supt.
