PH F iremen Recover From Sniper ShotsTwo Price Hill firemen,one of whom served in the Westwood company in the early 1 960's, were recovering this week from gunshot wounds inflicted by snipers late Monday night. Both were struck by bullets fired through the front door of the Engine Co , 32 station on Rockdale Ave. just west of Reading R d., in Avondale.One is Firefighter Thomas C. Donovan, of North Clerose Cir., who was listed in good condition Tuesday morning in General Hospital after being shot in the left arm. He wras a traveling firefighter in the various Western Hills stations in the Third District in 1965-66.The other is Li. John N. Ham mersm it h, of Ma nss Ave., who was released from the same Hospital shortly after being treated for two gunshot wounds in the right leg. He served in Co., 35 in West wood from January, 1960, to August, 1961.Both victims were located about 60 feet from the front door when the gunfire occurred at 11:15 p.m. Mr. Donovan wras talking on the telephon e , and L t. Hammersmith was watching the news on television.At least 15 bullet holes were found in the station. A witness told police of seeing a man and woman get into a car and drive awray just after the shooting. The couple were described as a Negro woman in her 20 s, four feet and nine inches tall, writh a large Afro hairdo and wearing a blue skirt and red blouse, and a Negro man weari ng a whit e shirt.
