In a recoin issue 'I’lii* Asheville ('itly.cn. of North Carolina. editorializing upon this i|iielt;thm. says:Trite historic ^markers which arc now so plentiful in Virginia add more than any other one tiling to the satisfaction of motoring through the Old Dominion. Western North Carolina should have hundreds of such markers. They would he* appreciated ly visitors and their in 11 nonce upon our own people would he worth while for a number of reasons.There stand today in Virginia 720 such historical markers. One hundred and thirty-two such markers are stored in warehouses awaiting erection. while an additional twenty-six are at the factory which manufactures them. These markers cover the state east and west, north and south.
